Maggoth Lord - Base

I have decided to make the base more interesting for this model by making a small waterfall of swampy slime. I bought a large cork (120mm diameter) and have started to cut it into roughly the shape I am after - a small stream that tumbles down into a pond. I have spoken with the guy at the local model shop and intend to get hold of some water effects goop to make convincing water. I also intend to litter the base with Nurglings to add some character. More to come soon hopefully.

Maggoth Lord - W.I.P v2 - Horns / Rider

I found a little bit of time since September to work on this model. As you can see, I have painstakingly painted a gradient onto each horn of both the the Maggoth beast and the rider. I have also worked a lot more washes and drybrushes over the riders skin. There is still a lot of fiddly bits to complete such as all the boils/spots on the beast as well as all the details around its burst stomach. The rider also needs a lot more detail done to all armour/cloth/weapon. Fingers crossed I can get this done by Feb 27th.

Update

It's been a while since I last updated because I was busy moving house. However, now that the dust has settled I should hopefully find more time for painting. I also now have a better dedicated painting area with improved lighting so I can paint in the evenings after work.

I recently went to buy some more paints and was handed this flyer for a painting competition and am seriously considering entering my Maggoth Lord model. This will mean adding all the finishing touches and building / completing the base within one month (the last hand in date is exactly a month today). I am hoping that this will give me some motivation to finish my first large model.
